Working at an environmental nonprofit, I meet a lot of people who try to do what they can to take care of the world. Most of them are well-intentioned, but many of them are not very well informed. They try to drive less, recycle, and take public transportation whenever available. Often, however, they are unaware of some of the worst environmental practices that are common in this country. One thing that most armchair environmentalists have in common is that they have not taken to using rechargeable batteries, in spite of the fact that normal batteries are awful for the environment.
In my opinion, this is a shame. Buying a battery charger auto is one of the best ways that you can take care of your environment. Although rechargeable batteries can be a little but more expensive, it takes very little time to save money when you don't have to replace them every few hours of use. The thing is, these same environmentalists use auto rechargeable batteries in many areas of their life. Their car batteries are rechargeable, as are the batteries on their laptops. Most of them have even used car battery charger auto start kits to get their old VW's running again. They have battery charger auto flashlights in their dens in case the power goes out. You get the idea. They should know all about rechargeable batteries.

Of course, even if you buy a battery charger auto, you still have to take care to dispose of your batteries correctly. If you just put them in the trash and send them to the landfill, you can undo all of the good work that you have done by using an auto charger battery. The unfortunate thing is that, in general, a battery charger auto is even more toxic than a normal battery. You need to recycle these above all else. Throw out your plastic, your aluminum, and your paper if you must. If you are only going to recycle one thing, recycle your batteries!
Finding the right rechargeable batteries can be a tough decision. Not every battery charger auto takes the same kind of cells, after all, and each has advantages and disadvantages. There are li ion battery chargers as well as ni mh chargers. Figuring out which one is best for you can be a tough project. For high draw applications, one type of battery charger auto might work better while, for longer life, another one might be the best.
